This is a specialist course exploring the nature and dynamics of domestic abuse, with a focus on church settings.
The Raising Awareness of Domestic Abuse course is available as in-person training. It takes approximately four hours to complete.
Who needs to complete this module?
This course is MANDATORY for:
- Anyone holding the Bishop’s licence, commission, authorisation, or permission (for example, clergy, PTO, Readers, LLMs and Elders)
- Bishops’ Visitors/Pastoral Visitors
- Safeguarding Officers
- Ordinands during IME1
- Members of the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisory Panel
In addition:
We would also encourage PCC Members / Lay Chapter Members and all persons holding any other pastoral role within the Church.

This session is in person, with a group of up to 32 people, and will last for approximately four hours. It is an exact replica of the online training module, available from the National Portal.
